day-to-day pregnancy

I am planning to take Kate to Brazil this summer to visit my family. In the past few weeks, I tried to get all her documents together to apply for the Brazilian and American passports she is entitled to. Because she is a baby, there are all sorts of requirements, including both parents AND the baby being present at the Post Office (for the American passport) and the Embassy (for the Brazilian passport). Amazingly enough, the toughest part of the process was getting Kate to sit still long enough for the photos. I tried to "cheat" by taking photos of her at home and cleaning the background on Photoshop, but sadly they were rejected at the Brazilian Embassy. I am gathering patience and strength to take her to the mall this weekend for more attempts.

Kate is really into imitation now. She surprised me the other day by grabbing the phone and holding it (upside down) against her ear while she babbled for about 2 minutes. I never realized she had been watching me while I talked on the phone, but her imitation is hilarious.

Kate has switched from formula to cow's milk, and loves it. Her appetite increased ten-fold since she recovered from the flu, and she can outeat me any day of the week. She is showing a definite preference for carbs (like me) and mess (like Daddy). On the good list: strawberries, yogurt, bread, pasta, eggs, muffins, cheerios with banana and milk. On the discarded list: blueberries, broccoli, apples, and chicken.
